Sooo you offer Brow Shaping AND um YOGA??!!

As a business owner, I am ever-conscious of, and working on, my "brand". When I first envisioned my business, I wanted it to be one that provided services to people that helped them to feel good about themselves. The two things that kept coming to mind were how great I felt after providing (and receiving) a fresh eyebrow wax and shaping, and the feeling during and after a yoga class; any Yoga class, from Meditation to Gentle Yoga to Power Vinyasa. So offering these two services together as my business model seemed like a no-brainer.

The surprising (albeit troubling) thing about this business model is that these 2 loves of mine from the outside seem polar opposite really. Yoga gives rise to thoughts of holistic wellness, natural beauty, centering from within, granola crunching, organic eating, vegetarian-living, om-chanting perfection. Eyebrow waxing and shaping gives rise to self-indulging, instagram selfies, kardashian-following, superficiality. And never the twain shall meet. Yet here we are.

But let's break it all down shall we... When I was a receptionist at a local eyebrow studio way before I became an eyebrow specialist, my job was to check people in and out of the studio. So many times the client would arrive all harried, sometimes rude, not look me in the eye, but briskly tell me their name then sit and wait for the tech to come get them. They would go back and in about 15 minutes they would emerge, with freshly shaped and waxed brows, and they would be lit up. Their energy was lighter, they would look me in the eye; an altogether different person. It would never cease to amaze me what a difference this quick eyebrow appointment would do for their demeanor. It was---and still is---truly inspiring!

Any one who's ever experienced a Yoga class will attest to the similar affect this amazing discipline has on one's overall energy. Yoga teaches us to be present, it helps us to center, it helps us to reconnect with the light within us and reminds us of the same light in others. It lifts our spirit and emphasizes the connectedness of all of us. So in this regard, Yoga can light us up from the inside out, and brow shaping simply polishes and connects us back to the beauty that is already there. Woah.

We are meant to shine in this world. My grandmother used to sing a song to me when I was little and was feeling sad... She would sit me on her lap and ask me "Now Kimberly where is that light? Don't you dare hide it!" She would then hold up her right finger and dance it around as she sang to me: "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, this little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine..."

Third Eye Wellness is a nurturing space. Period. The Anja Chakra-or Third Eye--is the 6th Chakra. It's located in the center of the head parallel to the middle of the eyebrows. It's believed to be linked to perception, awareness, and spiritual communication. I knew years before I ever opened my business, that this was the name I wanted for it. The Chakras are essential part of Yogic Tradition; and The Brows frame one of them! If Yoga is to help remind us of our own little light, then our eyebrows--those two beautiful works of art, are to remind us to shine it. And in that regard, my business model is spot on. Thank you for being here. Namaste.
